Hudur – (warsoor) – At least three trucks, one them carrying food, were on Monday burned down at an area 70 kilometers east of Hudur town, the capital of Bakool region southwest Somalia by Al-Shabaab militants, officials said.
Governor of Bakool region, Mohamed Abdi told reporters that Somali National Army went to the area where the incident happened and started operation against the militants immediately.
“Al-Shabaab militants burnt down three big trucks at a location 70 kilometers east of Hudur town in this region, two of the trucks left from this town to Beledweyne town in Hiiraan region, they were empty, the other one came from Beledweyne town with food shipment to this town, Hudur, they unloaded the passengers, but did not kill any onel”, the governor said.
Mr.Abdi added that their administration sent troops to the area as soon as they were informed to the incident, saying the forces reached the spot and started operation against Al-Shabaab there.
Al-Shabaab militants isolated Hudur and many other towns in the region from the rest of other towns in the country and refused humanitarian assistance to reach there and worsened the situation.
